What is Leadership?
Is your manager a boss or a leader?
Simply put, it is to lead others.
Both something good and something not so good. Below, we will take a closer look at the variety of being a leader, what makes someone a leader, why some become leaders, and overall, the task. So, we will take a closer look at the expression Boss vs. Leader.
On a website called Against Bullying in the Workplace, the following distinctions were found between being a boss versus being a leader:
• The boss drives their people
• The leader inspires their colleagues
• The boss relies on authority
• The leader relies on trust
• The boss instills fear
• The leader provides understanding
• The boss says “I”
• The leader says “we”
• The boss shows who is wrong
• The leader shows what is wrong
• The boss knows how it is done
• The leader knows how it should be done
• The boss demands respect
• The leader earns respect
So – Be a leader – Not a boss!
